Illium

An adjustable lighting system.

Illium is a group project with the aim to design an adjustable desktop lighting system around an LED strip, using wood as the primary material element. The light was to have an element of adjustability to allow for different states and contexts of use.

Illium uses tension through the use of a bent laminated wood element housing the LED strip, which can be adjusted by increasing the tension on the cord. A simple ratchet mechanism allows the light to be adjusted at a variety of angles through a simple twisting motion.
